I have started to work on my portfolio for college application, will RISD teachers review and give guidance on my portfolio?

学生在上课期间可以就自己的作品向老师提问，也会收到老师的反馈。老师会给出未来艺术学习和作品集的建议，也会就未来的升学和职业发展给出指导，但是RISD的老师不会就学生的完整作品集进行点评。虽然本项目不是一个作品集集训营，但学生有大量的studio时间来完成项目作业，可用于丰富自己的作品集。如果你希望得到RISD老师对作品集的点评，欢迎访问RISD官网大学申请页面，预约其面向全球申请人的Portfolio Review Days。

Students will certainly have opportunities to ask questions and receive feedback on their work and assignments during the class, however, faculty will not review or advise on their portfolios as a whole. Instructors will provide final assessments and recommendations for student continued artistic and portfolio development, as well as insight into potential education and career opportunities. But this Program is not targeted at portfolio development despite students will have plenty of time to work on their Program assignments which can go into their portfolio. All students can make an appointment with the RISD Admission team through Portfolio Review Days.

课程结束时，学生将有什么样的作品收获？

Apart from a sketchbook filled with their ideas, what are other deliverables upon completion of the program? Will they have a finished artwork for each of the courses and can go into their college application portfolio?

课程结束时，每位同学都将会完成个人艺术作品，可以放在未来作品集里。在学习过程中，学生也会形成自己的sketchbook积累艺术创意，为以后的作品集打基础。

Students will have develop finished artwork that will be used in their portfolio. Completion of the program results in the creation of an individualized sketchbook of inquiries and a series of studies to inform future portfolio work. They will create work that will enhance their portfolio and contribute to their art and design college application.

请问分班标准和师资配置如何？

May I know how do you assign classes and allocate teachers?

40名同学分为2个班，学生是随机平均分到两个班的，每个班上课内容完全一样。每个班的同学都会接触到2位RISD线上老师——Yevgeniya Baras老师教绘画，David Scanavino老师教设计。在Critique环节，老师还将邀请RISD线上助教参与。每个班还会配置1名RISD跟班线下老师和1名赫德助教，他们将结合线上老师授课的内容，指导学生以RISD的学习方法完成每天的学习任务。

Students are assigned to the sections at random and both classes will have the same teaching and learning content. Students will have the opportunity to work with both teachers. Yevgeniya will teach Drawing and David will teach Design. During critique session, teachers will also invite RISD online TA to participate. In each class, there will be 1 RISD offline teacher and 1 HD bilingual TA to support the assignment in compliance with RISD pedagogy.

请问项目每天的课程内容是怎样的？

What is the daily schedule throughout the program?

本项目是为期三周的住宿项目。周一到周五的课程安排和学习任务较为紧凑，每天的工作室学习时间长达7-8小时，并且还有开放工作室供学生课后练习。为保证劳逸结合，周末学生们会在老师带领下进行文化艺术活动，也会有较为放松的自行练习时间，可用于准备最终的作品展示。详细的日程安排将于近日公布，请持续关注。

This Program is a 3-week residential program. On weekdays, learning will have rigorous and intensive with 7-8 studio hours followed by open studio hours. On weekends, students will be guided by HD teachers to enjoy cultural and artistic relaxing events, and open studio will also be provided on campus for students to work toward their final presentation. A detailed daily schedule will be published shortly and please stay tuned.

第一轮申请时间为2022年1月12日-3月31日。申请平台已开放，请点击https://ce.risd.edu/summer-teen-institute-shanghai/ 页面最下端的“Apply Now”进行申请。所有申请材料将在申请关闭后统一进行审核。

The first round will be from Jan 12 to Mar 31. The application portal has been open and please click Apply Now on https://ce.risd.edu/summer-teen-institute-shanghai/. All the materials will be review at once after the application is closed (?).

托福或者雅思考试周期都比较长，能否介绍一下多邻国英语考试？

It takes longer time to get the TOEFL or IELTS results, and could you please introduce more about Duolingo?

多邻国测试很方便，随时可以在线考，一个小时内考完，两天即可出结果。考试费为49美元，付费后21天内都可以进行测试。

It is very easy and convenient to take Duolingo English test. The test is online and can be completed in one hour. You will get the results in 2 days. Test cost is $49 and you can take the test within 21 days after the payment.

母语是英文也需要英语水平证明吗？

If English is my first language, do I need to submit English test results?

网申界面可以选择“英语是否为你的第一语言”，如果英语是申请者的第一语言，则不需要提交任何证明文件。针对英语为第二外语的申请者，需要提交英语能力证明。建议英语水平达到托福79分，多邻国100或雅思6.5以上。

Students will have an option on their application to select if English is their first language. If they select English, they will not be prompted to upload any documents. If they select anything other than English, they will be required to upload proof of proficiency. RISD suggests a result of 79 on the TOEFL, 100 on Duolingo or 6.5 on the IELTS for ESL students

我家孩子年级不符合要求，但非常想参加这个夏校，也精心准备了英语和艺术申请材料，请问可以报名吗？

My child doesn’t meet the grade requirement but is very passionate about the program and has prepared application materials, can he/she apply?

罗德岛设计学院考虑到同年龄层的学生在一起会有更好的学习和社交体验，因此设置了9-11年级在读的标准。然而近期我们收到了非常多8年级优秀学生的申请意向。经过慎重考虑，为了给更多学生提供学习机会，RISD目前可以接受8年级在读学生的申请。最终申请结果会按照所有申请者提交的材料进行择优录取。

RISD does try to keep the age/grade requirements firm, especially with the grade as we want students to feel comfortable with their peers. However, we have received many keen inquiries from talented G8 students. After thoughtful considerations, with the purpose to benefit more Chinese students, RISD is fine to allow G8 students to apply, but we cannot guarantee their acceptance if they do not meet the requirements.

项目收费8260美金是包括参加项目的所有费用吗？

Does $8260 include everything?

包括夏校期间的学费、食宿、材料费，不包括60美元的申请费。申请费需要在官网平台提交时直接缴纳。

The total cost of $8260 include tuition, accommodation and supplies. It does not include the $60 application fee which will be paid on RISD application portal.
